Heart
Politics is a movement that dares to dream about a new politics with
people at the centre. The term, coined by Fran Peavey, aims to achieve
social justice through empathy, non-violence, co-operation and person-to-person
contact.
During
the workshop we will be exploring Strategic Questioning, a powerful
tool which invites our ideas to shift and take into account new information
and new possibilities. It awakens the suppressed possibilities for
change embedded in each person, in each institution and in each society.
This
workshop presents a rare opportunity to connect with Fran Peavey,
internationally renowned community social change worker, and warm
and compassionate teacher.
For more
than half her life, Fran Peavey has been at the barricades, challenging
the status quo, trying to build a new culture of peaceful co-operation
and social justice. Her latest book, Heart Politics Revisited,
grew out of her experiences in social and environmental change across
several continents, including the civil rights struggles in the United
States, the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa, the Minimato
poisoning disaster in Japan, the clean-up of the Ganges River, and
the refugee crisis in Bosnia and Kosovo.

About Strategic Questioning
Strategic
Questioning involves a special type of questioning and a special type
of listening. Anyone can use strategic questions in their work and
personal lives to liberate friends, co-workers, communities, political
allies and adversaries to create a path for change.
